When Wayne Scherr, president of Scherr’s Cabinet and Doors Inc., needed tooling for a new Morbidelli CNC point-to-point machining center, he decided on cutting tool inserts from DeHart Tooling. Scherr has been so pleased with the cutting tools that he’s since switched to DeHart inserts for other machinery in the plant.

"I had seen DeHart’s displays at IWF and had been very impressed with their products, so I decided to give DeHart a try. I bought a couple of heads to begin with and I liked them so much, I bought another set for the machining center. I actually changed out one of the sets we use on another machine, because we liked DeHart’s inserts so well. In the near future, I have some other machine heads I want to replace with DeHart Tooling.

Scherr’s company manufactures a wide variety of cabinet door styles (including custom), from Shaker to contemporary to traditional, plus dovetail drawer boxes and cabinet box components. Scherr’s also offers a line of ready-to-assemble cabinets, but will assemble any items the customer specifies.

While Scherr has invested approximately $200,000 in the machining center and new tooling, he feels “It’s been well worth the investment. DeHart has been a very easy company to work with. They have a great program that allows you to use the inserts for 30 days, risk free.”
